Wind

As I sit here listening to the wind blowing outside, keeping me awake last night as well, it makes me start to ponder. The wind to me it blows away the iniquities on the earth, blowing away debris, dead leaves, branches, etc. It can also in effect do the same spiritually. “blow away our iniquities.” So why fear it? Yes, the wind can be quite destructive, cause lots of damage. But so can our sins. As I continue pondering on this topic, I came to the following scripture:

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” – John 3:8

Wind: the life changing effects of the wind. Catchy isn’t it? The word Spirit means breath or wind so that the Holy Spirit could literally be called the Wind or Breath of God. Even this scripture talks about the wind:

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” – Acts 2:2

I want to leave you with these words as you ponder like I do next time the wind blows: Not only earth is being transformed by the wind, so can we spiritually be transformed. The wind is the most powerful forces on earth. God wants our life to be governed by the Wind of His Spirit. Is the Wind of God blowing in your life and in your situations? Will you let the “Wind blow where it wills?”

  1. May the wind of God’s Spirit ever blow through our hearts and minds and souls, blowing out the chaff and leaving us ready, willing and able to do the will of our Lord! Nice post, Joanne!
